Access Tusc Transit to end its Saturday service
Access Tusc Transit will make changes to its service schedule and ride cancellation policy beginning Sept. 1 to better meet community needs and improve efficiency.
Saturday service will be eliminated. New hours will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The change follows a review of ridership data comparing 2024, when Saturday service was offered, to the first six months of 2025, when it was not. The analysis showed an 11% increase in total trips, reflecting greater demand during weekdays.
“We’re guided by the data,” said Shannon Hursey, director of transportation. “Allocating a driver to Saturdays is reducing our weekday capacity, and the Saturday trips are not yielding the same return as those during Monday through Friday. Our goal is to meet demand as efficiently as possible.”
Ride cancellation policy:
– Cancellations must be made at least two hours before the scheduled pickup time, up from the previous one hour.
– Cancellations made less than two hours in advance will be considered a no-show.
– Riders who no-show will be charged half the fare for the canceled trip.
– The fee must be paid before the next trip can be booked.
