Absentee and early voting underway in Holmes County

Deadlines, hours announced for May 5 election

Absentee and early voting are underway in Holmes County ahead of the May 5 primary election, with applications due April 28 and specific voting hours scheduled.

Absentee voting is now underway for the May 5 primary election.

Voters wishing to vote by mail must apply for an absentee ballot in writing using Form 11-A, prescribed by the Ohio Secretary of State. The form is available at www.voteohio.gov or at the county board of elections office. Applications to vote by mail must be received no later than April 28.

Early voting at the board of elections office requires current photo identification. Acceptable forms include a driver’s license, state ID card or interim ID form issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; a U.S. passport or passport card; or a U.S. military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card.

Individuals age 17 and older who apply for and receive a state ID card from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles may receive it at no cost.

Early voting hours are as follows:

—Tuesday, April 7 through Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

—Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

—Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

—Monday, April 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

—Tuesday, April 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (last day for hand-carried or mailed ballots).

—Wednesday, April 29 through Friday, May 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

—Saturday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

—Sunday, May 3 from 1-5 p.m. (final day of early voting).

There will be no early voting hours May 4.

On Election Day, May 5, regular polling locations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
