As part of its commitment to serving those who serve their communities, Walsh University has launched the First Responders: Service to Scholars Program. Through this initiative, all first responders and their dependents who are accepted for admission are eligible for a 15% tuition discount on nearly all of Walsh University’s academic programs, with the exception of the Master of Occupational Therapy and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. Veterans may also qualify for alternate benefits.
First responders — including law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, volunteer and active-duty firefighters, search and rescue members, dispatchers and veterans — make tremendous sacrifices in support of their communities. Walsh University recognizes their dedication by providing access to flexible, high-quality educational programs designed to help them pursue career advancement and personal goals.
“Programs such as the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and others lend themselves ideally to first responders who benefit greatly from the additional medical training and credentialing,” said Dr. Kimberley Cleveland, dean of Walsh University’s College of Health Sciences. “We want to be a resource for our community, not only as an extension of our mission, but to help build pathways for healthcare professionals and meet the needs of our citizens.”
Walsh University offers more than 30 online and graduate programs tailored to busy working adults, supported by wraparound student services. Featured programs include the two-year Fast Track Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the 10-month online accelerated MBA, the Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, management and supply chain management, the Bachelor of Arts in public health or health sciences, and master’s degrees in exercise physiology, counseling and nursing. A complete list of programs can be found at www.walsh.edu/online.
Walsh, a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon program, is also a recognized military-friendly institution, earning the Collegiate Purple Star Award from the Ohio Department of Education for its support of military families. It also ranks among the top 10 Military Friendly institutions in the nation among private colleges offering a doctorate.
Classes begin every eight weeks, making it easier for first responders or their dependents to get started. Verification of employment or volunteer service is required.
