Lake Township to auction police cruisers
Two 2019 Ford Explorers available online Feb. 20-29.
Lake Township trustees at their Jan. 26 meeting agreed to sell two Uniontown Police cruisers by internet auction at govdeals.com beginning Feb. 20 for 11 days. The proposed notice will also be published on the township website and in The Hartville News. The two 2019 Ford Explorer cruisers will be on display at the Uniontown Police Department, 1635 Edison St. NW, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In other police business, the board approved an agreement with Cintas Corp. for monthly services for three AED units and a first-aid kit for the police department facility. Trustees accepted the resignation of Officer Brian Marinchek, effective Feb. 22, and wished him the best. They also agreed to pay no more than $125 per night for Officer Angela Molea to attend a four-day police officer training course at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London.
Trustees agreed to purchase an additional 500 tons of rock salt for the 2025-26 winter season, contingent on availability from Cargill. Trustee Jeremy Yoder gave a shout-out to the Road Department for its work during the winter storm, when crews worked 24 hours a day.
“We appreciate all of their hard work,” he said.
The board agreed to pay $45 per person for elected officials, administrative staff, the road superintendent and Zoning Board members to attend the Stark County Regional Planning Commission’s annual dinner meeting March 11.
Trustees approved the Ohio Department of Transportation Township Highway System Mileage Certification, showing 142.737 miles of roadway in Lake Township.
The board agreed to renew the cemetery maintenance contract with Wells Quality Excavating.
Trustees approved the sick leave donation policy as reviewed and approved by legal counsel and added it to the employee handbook.
Steve Tharp Jr. introduced himself as chairman of the Western Stark County GOP. He said he is running for the position of state central committeeman for the 29th District and asked for trustees’ support in the May 5 primary election.
Five Lake High School seniors addressed the board and introduced themselves. Trustees asked each student about plans after graduation.
The Zoning Commission was scheduled to meet Jan. 27 at the township hall. The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a hearing Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m.
The board approved total expenditures of $142,840.72.
Board President John Arnold was absent.
