Wings of Wellness 5k set for Coshocton

Annual event supports mental health services and building preservation May 2

Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices will host its third annual Wings of Wellness 5k Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at the Court Square gazebo in downtown Coshocton.

This event brings the community together to support local mental health services while raising funds for CBHC’s capital campaign, Preserving Hope: The Future of Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices.

Participants of all ages and fitness levels are invited to run or walk the course. Registration is $25, and participants who register by Saturday, April 11 are guaranteed an event T-shirt. Race-day registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. The event also will feature children’s activities including inflatables and face painting from 9-11 a.m.

Proceeds from the event will directly support CBHC’s building preservation efforts. The organization is working to raise $1 million in community and grant support, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar through a state capital grant, bringing the total project to $2 million.

For more than 50 years, CBHC has served Coshocton County, providing mental health, substance-use treatment, medication management and youth services to individuals and families. In fiscal year 2025 alone, the organization served 1,168 individuals including 463 children and adolescents. As a nonprofit organization, CBHC relies heavily on grants, community support and fundraising efforts to sustain its services, receiving only limited public funding.

CBHC’s current facility, a historic downtown building dating back to 1906, has been home to these services for decades. However, aging infrastructure including roofing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems now requires significant updates to ensure a safe and reliable environment for care. The campaign focuses on preserving and restoring the building while improving accessibility and preparing the space for future community use.

“This is our third year hosting the Wings of Wellness 5k, and our goal is to create an encouraging, family-friendly event that brings our community together while raising vital funds to support our services and ensure our building serves the community for generations to come,” said Megan Daugherty, clinical director of Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices.

CBHC extends its gratitude to its sponsors, including Coshocton Regional Medical Center, for their support of this year’s event.
