A wish I regret
River View’s Gavin Gress named East District Player of the Year
Black Bears dominate all-district golf honors with four first-team selections; coach Chad Gress earns Coach of the Year award.
River View’s Gavin Gress was named the OHSAA East District Player of the Year by the Eastern District Golf Coaches Association.
Gress, a sophomore, posted a season average of 35.7, leading the Black Bears through a stellar campaign that included a team trip to the state tournament.
He was joined on the All-East District first team by three of his River View teammates — Colton Gress (36.3), Clark Frischen (38) and Caleb Kline (39.9) — showcasing the program’s dominance in the district.
River View head coach Chad Gress was recognized as the East District Coach of the Year after guiding the Black Bears to another standout season.
In addition, Coshocton’s Bransyn Dawson earned second-team all-district honors with a season average of 41.7 while Ridgewood’s Collier Surgenor (44.2) and Wade Thompson (47.7) also were recognized for their performances.
