Saturday, Dec. 27 will be a fun evening at River View High School. The boys varsity and junior varsity basketball teams will play the Ridgewood Generals, an Alumni Mixer will be held, the 2024 Div. IV state champion soccer team will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and there will be silent and live auctions being held.

All former soccer players are asked to come and celebrate with the school and team. The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. The proceeds from the auctions will benefit the RV band and choir for a Disney trip in June and the RV Alumni Council. Items to be sold include Kandy’s Cookies, Beitzel’s Chocolate Chip Cookies, an RV bench, an RV sign, a basket of RV goodies and RV alumni clings.

“Alumni events matter for several meaningful reasons,” said Karin Moran, an organizer of the event.

She said these events strengthen community and connection. “Alumni events help maintain a sense of community long after people graduate or move on. They bring individuals together around shared experiences and values, reinforcing a lifelong bond with the institution.”

She said alumni events provide a space for networking and professional growth and offer support for current students.

“Alumni often share wisdom, career advice, internships and financial support for current students,” Moran said.

The events also create a sense of pride and belonging. “Beyond professional benefits, events are simply fun. They let people reconnect with friends, meet new people and reminisce,” she said.

The Alumni Mixer is for all alumni to share in the celebration of the boys soccer team’s 2024 state championship. “We will have a live auction to auction off a RV boys soccer ball with personalized signatures along with other RV memorabilia by our only alumni auctioneer Brad Baker during halftime of the boys varsity game,” Moran said.
