Sophomore Gage Stevens enjoyed making little kids happy and hanging out with friends while volunteering at the River View FFA Touch of Country Christmas.

The annual event was held Dec. 17-19 for students in the district and open one evening for the community and staff to enjoy.

“We will have students from preschool through 12th grade come through,” said Allyssa Mullett, one of two ag teachers at River View High School. “We like to give everybody a little extra Christmas cheer.”

The event featured games, snacks, a bounce house, a petting zoo and visits with Santa. The older students also could complete a scavenger hunt.

“We get parents that come and say they remember doing this when they were in school,” Mullett said.

New ag teacher Wendi Stachler liked watching people of all ages have fun at Touch of Country Christmas.

“It’s nice to see the kid in all of us come out,” she said.

Kiptyn Wood played Santa Claus at the evening program, and fellow eighth-graders Riley McKee and Salouria Waldren also volunteered their time.

“The food and drinks are good, and the bounce house is really fun,” Waldren said.

McKee said, “It’s fun watching the little kids.”
