Ridgewood High honors standout students

Five students recognized for achievements in academics, leadership and community involvement

LJ Grimmett

Senior honoree LJ Grimmett is being recognized for positivity, helpfulness, hard work, and dedication to both academics and extracurricular activities. Grimmett's parents are Leslie and David Grimmett.

At school Grimmett is involved in choir, chorale, Syntax Error, marching band, concert band, jazz/pep band, digital media and drama. Outside of school Grimmett is involved in The Cardinal Chorale and summer tour. This year Grimmett is looking forward to "The Addams Family" spring musical (April 17-19) and to graduation.

Grimmett loves the supportive community at Ridgewood. The advice Grimmett would give to other students is, “Do not be afraid to ask for help.”

“Thank you to my family for supporting me and my siblings and always ensuring we get where we need to go,” Grimmett said.

Grimmett plans to attend Wright State University in Dayton and to obtain a degree in music and art therapy.

The junior winner is Emma Wheeler. She is being recognized for her strong leadership skills, dedication as a cheerleader and community-mindedness while raising funds for the Bakersville playground. Wheeler is the daughter of Jared and Sarah Wheeler.

In school Wheeler is involved in FFA, cheerleading and National Honor Society. Outside of school she is involved in Progressive Livestock 4-H and CCYL. She is looking forward to her upcoming senior year and celebrating with friends and family.

Wheeler loves the success of all activities at Ridgewood: sports, clubs, music and academics. The advice Wheeler gives to other students is, “Find something you are passionate about and let that lead you.” She would like to thank her parents and grandparents for always supporting her. Her plan after graduation is to go to a university for the medical field.

Anna Troyer

The sophomore being recognized is Anna Troyer. She is recognized for her maturity, responsibility and dedication. She goes above and beyond in all that she does, and she demonstrated strong leadership during the Senior Citizens' Luncheon. She is the daughter of Ellie and Chip Troyer.

At school Troyer is involved in Student Council, and she is the sophomore class president. She also is involved in volleyball, track, Foreign Language Club and Crochet Club. Outside of school she is active at Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church, and she plays JO Volleyball.

Troyer is looking forward to the upcoming track and volleyball season. She loves the teachers at Ridgewood. Her advice to other students is, “Never limit yourself." She would like to thank both of her parents for always supporting her and giving her the opportunity to do the things she loves. Her future plans are to attend college to study exercise science to become a physical therapist.

Quinten McKee

Quinten McKee is the freshman honoree. He is being recognized for his positivity and helpfulness. He actively participates in class, offers to help his peers and his teachers, and is always in a good mood. He is the son of Tristan Mizer and Laura McKee.

At school McKee is involved in wrestling, football and baseball. Outside of school he is involved in 4-H. He is looking forward to summer vacation.

McKee appreciates the teachers listen to and respect their students at Ridgewood. His advice to other students is, “Don’t be afraid to help other people.” He would like to thank his parents and his English teacher, Mrs. Mast, for always supporting him. His future plans include going to college, but he doesn’t know his major yet.

Trenton Fisher

Trenton Fisher is the eighth-grader being celebrated. He is being recognized for his kindness and conscientiousness. He always makes an effort to help his peers, and when challenges arise, he shows initiative in finding solutions that support others. He is the grandson of Josh and Lorie Dunlevy.

At Ridgewood Fisher is involved in wrestling and choir. In the summer he works at McKenna's Market with his great-grandpa Bill Dunlevy. This year he is looking forward to becoming a better wrestler. He loves the community at Ridgewood. One piece of advice he would give to other students is, “Don't do something you'll regret later just because you think it’s funny.”

Fisher would like to thank his close friends for helping him keep his head up. He is hoping to go to the career center and then to work for Hathaway Construction.
