Agriculture is more than an industry. It’s a way of life.
All those who work in the industry and support it were invited to attend the annual Ag Day Celebration Luncheon March 17 in the Coshocton Community
Room.
The lunch was sponsored by Farm Credit Mid-America, the
Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District, and Ohio State University
Extension Office.
Brett Kinzel from the local OSU Extension delivered
the welcoming, invocation and closing remarks. Nathan Adams from River View
FFA led the Pledge of Allegiance. Ridgewood FFA members Aleana Huff and Libirti
Shortt-Wilkie recited the FFA Creed.
After a catered lunch by Schumaker Farms, guests heard a
presentation on weather shared by Aaron Wilson. He is an assistant professor at the department of extension of Ohio State University and an ag weather and climate field specialist.
Wilson takes weather data and makes it usable for
decision makers like farmers.
“We had a very rainy April through July last year and a dry August
for Coshocton County,” he said. “We have a lot of weather ups and downs, but
you adapt and combat these changes.”
Wilson said weather data and resources can be found at www.climate.osu.edu/.
Kinzel then thanked everyone for attending the lunch and for
their commitment to the agricultural industry.
