Coshocton baseball and softball teams triumph
Varsity squads secure wins over Shenandoah with strong offensive and pitching performances
A balanced offensive attack and a complete-game effort on the mound lifted Coshocton High School's varsity baseball team to an 8-4 win over Shenandoah.
Champ Haley led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, as the Redskins totaled 11 hits on the day. Calan Shaw, Dylan Wood and Cooper George each added two hits in the winning effort.
George also delivered on the mound, earning the win with a complete-game performance. He allowed three earned runs on six hits, did not issue a walk and struck out five.
Coshocton got production up and down the lineup. Parker Loomis sparked the offense with a triple and later scored while George helped his own cause with a double and two RBIs. Wood also drove in a pair while JJ Herman contributed an RBI single and Jace Coffman added another run batted in.
In varsity softball action, Coshocton set the tone early and made it stand up, scoring in each of the first three innings on the way to a 4-2 victory, also over Shenandoah.
The Redskins wasted little time getting on the board and continued to apply pressure through the opening frames, building a lead they would not relinquish.
Jazlene Brown led the offense with a double and two RBIs, providing a key spark in the middle of the lineup. Saige Taylor and Alianna Tittle each added two singles as Coshocton pieced together a steady offensive performance.
In the circle Savannah Gambill delivered a strong outing to earn the win. She allowed six hits and one walk while striking out eight, keeping Shenandoah in check throughout the game.
