Black Bears advance in bowling tournament
The team secured third place at St. Clair Lanes, moving to district finals on Feb. 19.
On Feb. 9 the Black Bears boys bowling team took on the Indian Valley Braves at Legacy Lanes. The Bears fought their way to a 2,283-2,224 victory.
The Bears are 10-2 on the season. Leading the way for the Bears were junior Kolton Duff with a two-game set of 411, sophomore Gavin Gress with a two-game set of 394 and senior Carter Hammersley with a two-game set of 384.
On Feb. 10 the Black Bears traveled to St. Clair Lanes to bowl in the sectional tournament. They finished third out of 24 teams with a total score of 3,678 total pins. The Black Bears are moving on to the district tournament, which will be held Thursday, Feb. 19 at Legacy Lanes.
Leading the way for the Bears were senior Carter Hammersley with 178, 201 and 218 for a 597 series, finishing in seventh place overall; freshman Colton Gress with 179, 257 (PR) and 155 for a 591 series, finishing ninth overall; and junior Kolton Duff with 199, 136 and 166 for a 501 series.
