Balo sets River View career kills record
Senior standout passes Kari Daugherty Pickens in Lady Bears’ win over Sheridan
Haley Balo became the all-time leader in kills in River View volleyball history as the Lady Bears defeated Sheridan on the road 25-21, 25-20 and 27-25.
Balo recorded 21 kills in the match, passing Kari Daugherty Pickens in the RVHS record books.
“Haley sets a goal and does everything possible to make it happen,” River View head coach Rose Olinger said. “She works incredibly hard and has fun doing it and makes it fun for those around her. As she’s gotten older, she’s continued to develop as a player — always asking questions and learning about the game.”
Balo is committed to play volleyball collegiately at Ashland University, where Pickens also attended and is currently the women’s head basketball coach.
Olinger said, “Haley is a leader both on and off the court. She’s not satisfied with great and has the desire to continue to get better. She’s so fun to coach.”
