Ron Eick announces run for Carroll County commissioner
Eick said he believes the county could see major changes in the coming years and he would work to preserve it as a good place to live
Ron Eick of Malvern has announced his candidacy for the full four-year term as Carroll County commissioner in the May 5 primary election. The term begins Jan. 1, 2027.
Eick, 64, lives on Alliance Road.
“I am a lifelong resident of Carroll County with a strong commitment to my community,” Eick said.
Eick said he began his career at Carroll Electric Cooperative, where he worked for 16 years. During that time, he was elected to two terms as a Harrison Township trustee.
He said he and his wife, Shelly, will celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary in May. They have two adult children and six grandchildren.
In 1996, Eick started Eick Electric and Lighting LLC, which he sold in 2021.
“I was privileged to work for a large number of residents in Carroll County and surrounding counties for more than two decades, building lasting relationships by serving with honesty and integrity,” he said.
Eick also said he served for two years as a volunteer missionary in Honduras.
“During that time, I realized how fortunate we are to live in a conservative, rural county in the state of Ohio and in the United States,” he said.
Eick said he believes the county could see major changes in the coming years and said he would work to preserve it as a good place to live.
“I will serve our residents with the same respect, open-mindedness, work ethic, transparency and community focus that has guided me throughout my life, always seeking the best possible solution,” he said.
Eick will face Donald E. Leggett II in the Republican primary.
