With the Ohio Cardinal Conference championship slipping through the fingers of Wooster’s volleyball team down the stretch, the Lady Generals will look to the postseason to redeem themselves.

With a 15-4 record heading into their final three matches, the Lady Generals must continue to bounce back from back-to-back OCC losses that dropped them from sole possession of first place to second, a game behind Dover.

In the super-district spanning eight Northeast Ohio counties, Wooster was voted the No. 9 seed. The Lady Generals had a 13-3 record at the time of the vote.

In the Northeast 3 District, a four-team mini-bracket, the Lady Generals are paired in the first round with longtime state power but now-struggling Solon. The Comets, 2-18 at the time of the vote, are seeded 28th. The other half of the bracket is No. 4 Olmsted Falls (14-4) and No. 32 Cleveland Garrett Morgan (6-8).

First-round games will be held at Olmsted Falls on Oct. 20 at 5 and 7 p.m., with the Wooster/Solon matchup in the latter slot. The winners will play Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. at Tallmadge.

The winner of the district will move on to play the Northeast 4 winner, likely to be either No. 4 Nordonia or No. 8 Hoover.

The top four overall seeds are Magnificat (16-3), Avon (18-0), Wadsworth (17-1) and Olmsted Falls.

Wooster is led by senior hitter Sara Snowbarger (seven kills and 4.3 digs per set, 52 total aces, 268 total digs), senior middle hitter Maddy Lee (36 blocks), senior setter Bri Hewitt (614 assists) and sophomore Hope Jones (349 service receptions).

Division V

With a 13-5 record at the time of the draw, Triway was voted the No. 8 seed among 30 teams in the Northeast Ohio super-district.

Triway clinched the outright Principals Athletic Conference title by beating Northwest on Oct. 7.

With that, Triway wound up the second-best seed, behind No. 6 Berkshire, in the eight-team Northeast 2 District bracket. The Lady Titans will open postseason play on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. against Fairview at Garrettsville. The winner will play either No. 7 Garfield or No. 13 Beachwood in a district semifinal on Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. at a site to be determined. The district final will be Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. at Magnificat High School in Rocky River.

The Lady Titans have been led by freshman hitter Pyper Hamilton (3.2 kills per set), senior hitter Audrey Walton (43 total blocks), senior libero Reagan Underwood (4.3 digs per set), junior outside hitter Mia Mariola (55 total aces), junior setter Taylor Mathis (640 assists) and senior outside hitter Lauren Fishburn (304 service reception).
