Wooster filmmakers Dusty Austen and Athena Murzda are bringing their locally shot holiday horror film, "The Beast of Walton Street," to the Lyric Theater for a limited engagement beginning Jan. 8.
The film will premiere Thursday, Jan. 8 at 8 p.m., followed by a weeklong run at the Lyric Theater, 116 E. South St., Wooster. Filmed entirely in Barberton and Wooster, the 1990s-inspired horror-comedy features a werewolf terrorizing downtown Wooster during the winter months.
"The Beast of Walton Street" centers on a series of brutal deaths targeting the homeless population of an Ohio town. Two outcast women band together to defend their territory and fight back against the deadly creature stalking the streets.
Following the premiere screening, audiences are invited to stay for a Q-and-A session with the filmmakers. Attendees also will have the opportunity to purchase the film on Blu-ray and meet Austen and Murzda.
In addition to its theatrical run, "The Beast of Walton Street" is available for purchase on Blu-ray and is streaming on Tubi and Fawesome.
Showtimes will continue through Jan. 15, with multiple daily screenings scheduled throughout the week. Tickets are available through the Lyric Theater and can be purchased online at www.lyricwooster.org/movie/the-beast-of-walton-st/.
