Wooster Chamber Music Series to feature award-winning Callisto Quartet

The Wooster Chamber Music Series will present the Callisto Quartet Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. in Scheide Music Center at The College of Wooster.

This American-Canadian-Taiwanese group is one of the most celebrated young string ensembles performing today. Having received the grand prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, second prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and numerous other awards, the Callisto Quartet has developed a reputation for its performances.

Formed at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2016, the group has toured internationally and performed extensively on U.S. stages and at well-known festivals. The Callisto Quartet works to preserve and expand the string quartet genre through its work as educators and by collaborating with living composers. Their program will include works by Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven and Jessie Montgomery.

The Wooster Chamber Music Series features world-class musicians in Gault Recital Hall. Since 1986 WCMS has given the community an opportunity to hear performances, and audiences also have the opportunity to meet the performers after the concert.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $100 for a Series Subscription. Middle and high school and College of Wooster students are admitted for free.

All concerts are on Sundays at 3 p.m. and take place in Gault Recital Hall, Scheide Music Center at The College of Wooster, 525 E. University St. Tickets can be purchased at the Mayer Bookstore in Lowry Center, 1189 Beall Ave., Wooster (330-263-2421), or at the door. The WCMS is only able to accept cash and check payments at the door.
