Wayne County Veterans Service Commission joins national Korean reception in Chicago
Invitation-only event honors Korean heritage and reinforces support for Korean War veterans across 13 states
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago recently hosted its annual National Day of Korea Reception, commemorating Gaecheonjeol — Korea’s national foundation day — which celebrates the founding of the first Korean nation in ancient history.
The annual reception is a private, invitation-only event for community leaders, officials, Korean War veterans and other guests.
This year, the Wayne County Veterans Service Commission, along with dignitaries from the 13 states under the jurisdiction of the consulate, as well as other members of the diplomatic corps, was invited to attend the event.
“Our commission values every opportunity to build meaningful relationships that honor our veterans,” said WCVSC Director Jeff Shull. “Attending the National Day of Korea Reception not only strengthened our connection with the Korean Consulate but also reinforced our commitment to ensuring Korean War veterans in Wayne County are remembered and recognized.”
The WCVSC ensures that the courage, sacrifice and legacy of all local veterans are never forgotten.
