Wayne County Health Department to host Jan. 13 pop-up food pantry

Drive-thru pantry in Wooster will provide free food to eligible families in partnership with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

The Wayne County Health Department will host a drive-thru pop-up food pantry with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Jan. 13 in Wooster to help address food insecurity among eligible residents.

The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the WCHD's offices, 244 W. South St., Wooster. This pantry will be drive-thru.

“Our monthly pop-up pantry served approximately 1,500 families in 2025," said Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. "We will continue this collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank as food insecurity for many Wayne County residents continues to be a reality."

Anyone unable to attend the pantry and in need of food can visit www.wayne-health.org for other times and locations to get food in the community.

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.

The health department asks that anyone attending the food pantry to receive food enter through the alley off Walnut Street, as it's a one-way alley running east to west.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the pop-up pantry can call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590 ext. 207.
