Snowbarger, Mathis headline local athletes on All-Ohio volleyball teams
Seven area standouts earn statewide honors, with Wooster’s Sara Snowbarger and Triway’s Taylor Mathis named first-team selections for their stellar 2025 seasons.
Seven locals were honored as All-Ohioans by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association for this past fall season. Leading the way were two first-team selections in Wooster senior hitter Sara Snowbarger in Division II and Triway junior setter Taylor Mathis in Div. V.
Snowbarger wrapped up a stellar prep career by pounding out 539 kills, totaling 23 blocks and recording 360 digs for a Generals team that finished 19-5 and 12-2 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. She is now preparing to head to Indiana University after an early graduation from Wooster. Mathis, who has had an outstanding prep career to date, ran the show for a Titans' team that went 18-7 overall as she finished with 854 assists and added 27 blocks.
Earning a second-team selection in Div. V was Norwayne senior hitter Ava Maibach, who helped the Bobcats to their first Wayne County Athletic League crown since 2000. Flanked by an abundance of talent, Maibach still found a way to shine bright as she finished with 358 kills, 47 blocks, 340 digs, served up 168 points and had 42 aces. Northwestern senior Claire Buchholz was tabbed honorable mention in Div. V as she finished with 361 kills, 16 blocks and 339 digs.
In Div. VI, Dalton junior Sara Geibel and Hiland sophomore Addi Mast both earned second-team honors. Geibel led the Bulldogs with 415 kills, served up 217 points, had 61 aces, eight blocks and 370 digs. Mast paced the Hawks with 355 kills, 295 digs and 16 blocks for a squad that went 23-2 this season.
Joining Geibel was teammate and senior setter Mya Geiser, who finished with 970 assists and added 297 digs for the Bulldogs.
