Orrville Public Library offers holiday cookie decorating, gingerbread houses and winter programs
December–January lineup includes crafts, Santa photos, teen activities and hands-on learning for kids.
Orrville Public Library will supply everything teens in sixth grade through 12th grade need to decorate their own Christmas cookies. Gluten- and dairy-free options will be available. The group will meet Friday, Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. Register by clicking the event on the website calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by calling the information desk at 330-683-1065. By registering for this program, parents/caregivers recognize the library is not responsible for any food-related reactions during the program.
Registration will begin Dec. 19 for the library's first 2026 Crafternoon. Kids in third grade through sixth grade will learn about artist Frida Kahlo. She was known for her self-portraits and the use of bright colors. A paper doll will be made in her likeness. The group will meet Friday, Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. for this free event. Register by clicking the event on the website calendar or by calling the children’s department.
Registration has begun for the library's tradition of making gingerbread houses. Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate in this free activity. Choose from Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. Most supplies will be provided, but each registered participant is asked to bring a bag of candy to share with others for decorating the houses. Candy suggestions include gumdrops, mini marshmallows, mini candy canes, Skittles, M&M’s, Hershey Kisses and fruit roll-ups. Registration can be completed through the calendar on the website or by calling the children's department.
Children age 2-5 are invited to the library's free Preschool Play Lab Wednesday, Dec. 10. Older and younger siblings also are welcome. A variety of hands-on activities will be available. Stop by the children’s department from 1:30-4:30 p.m. No registration is needed.
Grab a camera or cellphone and come to the library to take a picture with Santa Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 10-11 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. No registration is needed.
Teens in sixth grade through 12th grade are invited to the library’s Teen Book Club Thursday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. Attendees will share whatever they've been reading. No registration is needed.
