The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry Monday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the WCHD's offices, 244 W. South St., Wooster. This pantry will be drive-thru.
“Last month we served over 130 families," said Dr. Nicholas Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner. "We really appreciate the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for stepping up to collaborate with us as we anticipate an even greater need with the shutdown of the federal government, which we hope ends soon."
Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.
The health department asks that anyone attending the food pantry to receive food enter through the alley off Walnut Street, as it's a one-way alley running east to west.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the pop-up pantry can call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590 ext. 207.
