Approximately
six in 10 U.S. adults will develop some type of cardiovascular disease within
the next 30 years, according to the latest research undertaken by teams from
the American Heart Association. That is why the association is collaborating
with Buehler’s Fresh Foods in Wayne County to give individuals a chance to be
part of the progress to overcome today’s biggest health challenges.
Through the association’s Life Is Why campaign, people can support the fight against
cardiovascular disease by donating at checkout while celebrating their personal
reasons for living longer, healthier lives. Retailers and brands like Buehler’s
are stepping up to help make this lifesaving campaign possible.
From Aug. 24 through Sept. 20, Buehler’s will
provide shoppers the opportunity to donate to support
the mission of the American Heart Association by rounding up their purchase or donating
$1, $5 or $10 to get a heart to hang on the store wall. The campaign will take place at all 14 Buehler’s locations.
“Buehler’s
support of the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why campaign exemplifies
the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change in heart and brain
health,” said Samantha Campbell, senior development director for the American
Heart Association in Northeast Ohio. “This will help fund more critical
research, CPR education and enable us to reach more communities with lifesaving
initiatives. Together, we are making strides towards a healthier future for
everyone, everywhere.”
Last year Buehler’s raised more than $40,000 to
advance the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission. For 2025 its goal
is $60,000.
"Buehler’s is honored to support the
American Heart Association’s Life Is Why campaign, empowering our customers to
join the fight against heart disease and stroke," said Mike Davidson,
president of Buehler’s Fresh Foods and board member of the American Heart
Association in Northeast Ohio. "This effort reflects our commitment to
create healthier lives by supporting lifesaving research, nutrition security and CPR initiatives that advance health and hope right here in our community."
Donations through the Life Is Why campaign — no matter the
amount — allow the association to do following:
—Fund research that can
improve health outcomes for people experiencing heart disease and stroke.
—Train more than 2.5 million
high school students in CPR annually.
—Support the work of local
entrepreneurs and organizations working to improve health outcomes in
under-resourced communities.
