Author to discuss J. Edgar Hoover and JFK research Nov. 12 in Wooster

Historian R. Andrew Kiel presents updated findings from his book on Hoover’s Cold War influence and the Warren Commission cover-up during a free public talk at Wooster High School.

Author and historian R. Andrew Kiel will present the updated 2025 edition of his book on J. Edgar Hoover, exploring the FBI director’s role in Cold War politics, the Warren Commission and the JFK assassination, during a free public program Nov. 12 at Wooster High School.

R. Andrew Kiel will be presenting an updated 2025 edition of his book, "J. Edgar Hoover: The Father of the Cold War – How His Obsession With Communism Led to the Warren Commission Cover-Up and Escalation of the Vietnam War," on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 7:15-9 p.m. at the Wooster High School Large Instruction Room.

Kiel is a retired U.S. history teacher who first published his book on J. Edgar Hoover in 2000. Kiel's book was originally based on his master's thesis on the former FBI director and was later expanded into the full book title after many years of research in the National Archives and numerous trips to Dallas, Texas, the scene of the assassination.

Kiel has been able to interview several eyewitnesses to President John F. Kennedy's murder and has been able to speak with four doctors who worked to save JFK, as well as numerous individuals who knew the accused assassin Lee Oswald and Jack Ruby, who shot and killed Oswald two days after the assassination in the basement of the Dallas jail.

Commentary on the recent releases of the 2025 JFK files, as well as a video presentation and Q&A discussion, will be the focus of the program. The program is free and open to the public.
