AAUW/Kiwanis Book Sale returns with more books than ever
The annual AAUW/Kiwanis Book Sale will feature over 45,000 books, making it one of the biggest sales in the event’s 68-year history.
From mysteries and biographies to children’s stories, cookbooks and collectors' gems, the selection is vast including a large number of books on sports, Russian history, quilting, needlecrafts, model trains, railroads, dolls and dollhouses, and fiction.
Held at Buss Hall on the Wayne County Fairgrounds, 199 Vanover St., Wooster, the sale will kick off Tuesday, Sept. 23 with an early bird event from 4-8 p.m. Admission for this preview is $10, giving shoppers first pick of the inventory.
From Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 24-26, the sale is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with free admission. Friday also marks the half-price day. On Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., shoppers can fill a grocery bag with books for $5. Bags will be provided at the door.
Most books are priced between $1 and $6, and all major credit cards are accepted. There’s no sales tax.
Parking is free.
Proceeds support AAUW scholarships for women and Kiwanis youth programs including literacy initiatives, playgrounds and community outreach.
This year’s record-breaking inventory is a direct result of public donations. Volunteers have worked to sort and organize the massive amounts, helped by donations of boxes from a variety of donors including Cleveland Clinic, Murr's Printing, Chase Bank and BCI.
