St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with event co-sponsor the Udris family (Hofbräuhaus Cleveland franchise owners), will host its seventh Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 1-8 p.m. under white tents at 317 E. Liberty St. in Medina. The rain-or-shine fundraiser is open to the public and welcomes all ages.
Last year’s celebration drew more than 1,000 guests despite late-day storms. This year’s live music features Donau Schwaben Blaskapelle, a 27-member German orchestra, from 1-5 p.m., followed by the polka band Down und Kraut from 6-8 p.m.
Families will find a Kids Korner with two Space Walk of Medina inflatables—an obstacle course and a rock-climbing wall—and a nearby parent area. Adults can play cornhole and Jenga, and test “brat strength” in a stein-holding contest. Eight local craft vendors will set up on the east side of the property. A 50/50 raffle and drawings for donated raffle baskets will run throughout the day; each event ticket includes one free raffle-basket entry, and additional tickets will be sold on site.

Advance tickets are $6 for adults (21 and over with ID) and $5 for ages 11–20; children 10 and under are free. Day-of tickets are $10. Purchase at www.stpauls-medina.org or by calling 330-725-4131.
“The success of this event takes a village,” said event coordinator Tim Scheel, noting support from the Rev. Kelly Aughenbaugh, church volunteers, sponsors and outside donors. Hofbräuhaus Cleveland will provide food, beer and wine for purchase; proceeds from food sales go back to Hofbräuhaus. Menu options include Bavarian pretzels, bier cheese, brats, sausages, hot dogs and sauerkraut. St. Paul’s will operate the Biergarten, offering Hofbräuhaus Oktoberfest, Dunkel and Hefeweizen on tap (21+ with ID). Beer is poured from kegs and sold in 16-ounce cups.
All proceeds from tickets, raffle baskets and adult beverages benefit St. Paul’s, with a portion donated to local charities. This year’s beneficiaries are Medina Battered Women’s Shelter and the Next Step-Up Emergency Housing Shelter through the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Oktoberfest traces its roots to the Oct. 12, 1810, royal wedding in Munich, Germany, a celebration that grew into an annual autumn tradition now embraced worldwide.
