Medina County commissioners have selected longtime county administrator and shelter volunteer Debbie Kiley to become the future director of operations for the Medina County Dog Shelter.

The Medina County Board of Commissioners announced that, following an extensive interview and screening process, Debbie Kiley has been selected to serve as the future director of shelter operations at the Medina County Dog Shelter.

Kiley brings years of hands-on volunteer experience at both the Medina County Dog Shelter and City Dogs Cleveland. Her professional background includes leadership in managing complex operations and multimillion-dollar budgets.

Kiley currently serves as director of Medina County Job and Family Services, where she has demonstrated organizational management, strategic planning and team leadership for more than 30 years.

Kiley will retire from her position as director of Medina County Job and Family Services on June 30. Following her retirement, she will assume the role of director of operations at the dog shelter at a later date as the county continues implementation of its long-term operational transition plans.

Kiley will play a central role in helping launch and implement new programs and procedures as the county continues to modernize and improve shelter operations. Plans include construction of a new shelter designed to enhance the care and experience of dogs and visitors.

“I truly believe my volunteer and fostering experience has shown me how transformative, compassionate, structured shelter care can be — not only for animals, but also for the people who love and support them,” Kiley said. “I’m excited to bring both my professional leadership experience and personal commitment to this role.”

The Board of Commissioners said it looks forward to Kiley’s leadership as the shelter enters a period of significant growth and transformation.

“Debbie’s experience, compassion and collaborative approach will be invaluable as we continue our commitment to offering high-quality care and a positive environment for the dog shelter,” Commissioner Aaron Harrison said.
