Prince of Peace Church boosts community with donations, blood drive

Sock and glove drives aid local teens and unhoused residents, while a revived Red Cross blood drive surpasses its goal.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church collected 243 pairs of socks during its fall “Socktober” drive to help local teens and people experiencing loss of housing.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church exceeded its goal at a recent Red Cross blood drive, collecting 41 pints with help from phlebotomist Sean Patterson.

Parishioners at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church contributed to several charitable initiatives this fall, donating hundreds of clothing items and helping the American Red Cross exceed its blood collection goal.

The congregation collected 243 pairs of socks during its September and October “Socktober” campaign and 183 pairs of gloves in November for a drive called “Glov-ember,” themed “show love, buy gloves.” The items were distributed to local teens and people experiencing homelessness with the help of Cups Café.

Prince of Peace also hosted a Red Cross blood drive, its first in many years. Organizers set a goal of 25 pints, but donors surpassed expectations with 41 pints collected. The church plans to host another drive in June or July.
