Montville Township launches new e-waste recycling program

Partnership with Summit E-Waste Recycling Solutions offers secure electronics disposal for residents and businesses

Montville Township has launched a new e-waste recycling program with Summit E-Waste Recycling Solutions, offering a secure, drop-off option for responsibly disposing of electronics.
The program accepts a wide range of electronics, including computers, cellphones, printers, flat-screen TVs, batteries (excluding car batteries), hard drives and small office equipment.

Montville Township has launched a new e-waste recycling program in partnership with Akron-based Summit E-Waste Recycling Solutions, giving residents and businesses a secure way to dispose of unwanted electronics.

The program allows anyone to recycle electronics by dropping items into a designated bin located at the Montville Township Police Department, 6665 Wadsworth Road in Medina. No appointment is required.

A township official said the program was created to meet a growing need, as many electronic items can no longer be safely discarded in the trash due to hazardous components. Summit says it offers an environmentally responsible alternative to landfilling electronics while helping keep hazardous materials out of the waste stream.

Electronics accepted through the program include computers and laptops, cellphones and tablets, printers and scanners, routers and cables, flat-screen televisions, batteries (excluding car batteries), hard drives, small office electronics, power tools, electronic toys, Christmas lights and VCR or DVD players.

Summit E-Waste Recycling Solutions, which manages more than a dozen bins throughout northeast Ohio, provides responsible recycling and secure data destruction services. The woman-owned, veteran-operated company specializes in the proper removal of electronic waste and follows compliance standards under HIPAA and FACTA regulations.

For residents concerned about personal or sensitive data stored on old devices, Summit E-Waste shreds hard drives and can provide certificates of destruction upon request, ensuring data is fully destroyed before materials are recycled.

The township official said residents with questions about accepted items or data security should contact the company directly at 330-800-6657 or Ben@summitecycle.com.

The program is intended to offer a simple, environmentally responsible alternative to landfilling electronics while helping keep hazardous materials out of the waste stream.
