Medina Square Farmers Market opens May 16 for 22nd season

Main Street Medina’s popular Farmers Market opens in Medina’s historic district for its 22nd year May 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market features more than 70 vendors each week offering locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, heirloom produce, local meats and cheeses and more.

Visitors can find homemade jams and jellies, nut butters, local honey, fresh bread and baked goods, as well as pet products. The market runs every Saturday through Oct. 10.

With free parking and easy access, the Medina Farmers Market is located about 4 miles west of Interstate 71. From Cleveland, take I-71 south to Route 3 and follow into town. From Akron, take Route 18 west past I-71.

The season will include themed market days, including Opening Day on May 16, Kids Day & Teen Fest on June 6, Christmas in July on July 25, Customer Appreciation Day on Aug. 8, South Town Music Festival on Aug. 22, Any Lab Test Now Wellness Expo on Sept. 12, Medina Fall Festival on Sept. 26 and the final market day on Oct. 10.

While the Produce Perks matching incentive program is paused in Medina County, the market has created another matching incentive program for food-insecure customers. The market will continue to offer Family Fruit and Vegetables coupon booklets and accept WIC and PRx coupons, as well as assist seniors with Ohio Farmers Market Senior Coupons QR codes. The number of booklets has increased to 75 $140 booklets available after June 30.

Local musicians will perform throughout the season, providing a backdrop for shopping and socializing on the square.
