Medina High School seniors painted personalized parking spots during the ninth annual event, raising funds for the Medina County SPCA.MCS
The Medina High School parking lot transformed into an open-air gallery on Sunday, Aug. 10, as 109 seniors brought their artistic visions to life during the ninth annual Painted Parking Spot event.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Ken Dukes Stadium lot was alive with color, creativity and community spirit. Each participating senior paid an additional $20 for the opportunity to personalize a parking space — a beloved tradition that allows students to express themselves while raising funds for a cause. This year, proceeds will be donated to the Medina County SPCA, supporting its mission to protect and care for animals in need.
New this year, the community was invited to stroll through the lot and admire the vibrant designs. “This is a new touch that we plan to continue in years to come,” said Laura Calaiacovo, student council advisor.
In addition to the artwork, attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by local sponsors, including Buehler’s Fresh Foods, Cool Beans Café and Crumbl Cookies. Student council added to the excitement with four raffle baskets — one from each class — with proceeds also supporting the Medina County SPCA.
“This event is such a special way to celebrate the creativity and individuality of our seniors,” Calaiacovo said. “It’s become a tradition that not only brightens up our campus but also strengthens our connection with the community.”
The Painted Parking Spot event remains a beloved Medina tradition, uniting students, families and community members while raising funds for charitable causes.
