Medina Jazzmatazz fundraiser set for March 21

The spotlight will shine on student jazz musicians from Medina City Schools during the annual Jazzmatazz fundraiser March 21 at the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Road, Medina.

Now in its 20th year, the event, presented by Acme Fresh Market, features live performances by jazz ensembles from Medina High School and A.I. Root and Claggett middle schools. Donor and sponsor support from local businesses, restaurants and entertainment venues provides attendees opportunities to win gift baskets and participate in a cash drawing.

The fundraiser benefits the Medina Band Parents’ Association, which supports the Medina band program.

“This annual event brings our talented young musicians together with the Medina community while celebrating local businesses through sponsorships and raffle basket contributions,” said sponsorship coordinator Allison Allen. “The generosity of our local businesses, families and civic groups never ceases to inspire our students.”

The evening also will include food and mocktails in addition to musical performances and basket raffles. Student groups will provide casual entertainment during intermissions.

“Guests can expect an exciting night of live jazz, delicious food and fantastic raffle baskets and prizes,” said MBPA President Cyndi McClintock. “We hope the community will come out, have fun and show their support for our outstanding student musicians.”

Funds raised help provide band uniforms, musical equipment and other needs for the Medina band program beyond the school budget.

Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and children 10 and younger and are available at tinyurl.com/MedinaJazz. The ticket price includes admission to all musical performances and one entry into the final cash raffle drawing. Participants must be present to win. Tickets purchased at the door will cost more.
