Medina County sees uptick in traffic fatalities this quarter
Safe Communities Coalition reports seven fatal crashes, urges drivers to stay alert and drive safely.
The Medina County Safe Communities Coalition reported seven fatal crashes in the county this quarter, an increase from the same timeframe in 2024.
As of Sept. 15, the Ohio Traffic Safety Office reported 754 confirmed traffic crash fatalities statewide in 2025, compared with 848 during the same period in 2024 — an 11% decrease. Officials noted the data is preliminary and may change in the coming weeks.
The Medina County Safe Communities Coalition urges all drivers, both new and experienced, to buckle up, avoid distractions, drive sober and obey traffic signs and signals.
The coalition is a collaboration of law enforcement, healthcare providers, fire departments, school districts, the media and local businesses. Its mission is to save lives and reduce injuries on Medina County roads and highways through community events, education and enforcement campaigns. For more information, call 330-723-9688, option 2.
The Medina County Health Department has protected public health since 1918. Services are partially supported by the county property tax health levy. It is an equal opportunity provider.
