The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) is accepting applications for its 2026 Leadership Academy.

The Leadership Academy is a six-month program designed to help participants ages 18 and older develop the skills needed to pursue meaningful leadership roles in community organizations they are passionate about. Topics include understanding leadership, developing a personal profile, communication, outlining personalized plans for leadership goals and more.

Participants are also required to attend a Medina County commissioners meeting, participate in a civic endeavor and attend presentations from leaders of local community organizations.

Now entering its fourth year, the Leadership Academy continues to foster personal growth and community involvement. Program graduates have gone on to participate in advocacy efforts, serve on committees and boards and take active roles in shaping the communities where they live and work.

“The Leadership Academy truly focuses on empowering people to recognize their strengths and take on roles that matter to them,” said Molly Usner, community resources coordinator at the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “We are proud to offer a program that supports people with developmental differences on their journeys to become confident and impactful leaders.”

Participation in the Leadership Academy is free, but space is limited. Applications are available at mcbdd.org/advocacy.
