Hot Shots: A dash of blue
Dedicated Medina Weekly reader and skilled photographer Mary Lou Jubin recently captured this photo of a dragonfly while on a walk at Carolyn Mugrage Park. She had this to say:
"Dragonflies are one of my favorite insects. The Blue Dasher is a common dragonfly found at Mugrage Pond. They spend several years in the pond in the larval stage eating mosquito larvae and other insect larvae. When they finally emerge and turn into the beautiful Blue Dasher they dash around the pond eating hundreds of mosquitoes a day. An absolutely beautiful bug that doesn't bite or sting and eats the bugs that bug us."
