With flu season approaching, the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities, in partnership with Discount Drug Mart and the Autism Society of Greater Akron, will host a community flu vaccine clinic Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Medina County Achievement Center, 4691 Windfall Road.
The clinic is open to residents ages 19 and older. Regular-dose vaccines will be available for ages 19-64, and high-dose vaccines will be offered for ages 65 and older.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people in our community to protect themselves and their families for the upcoming flu season,” said Megan Augustine, health services coordinator for MCBDD. “Getting a flu shot is a simple but powerful way to stay healthy and reduce the spread of illness in our schools, workplaces and neighborhoods. It helps us protect our community — one flu shot at a time.”
Participants must register in advance and bring completed paperwork, available on the MCBDD website event calendar at www.mcbdd.org/event-calendar. An insurance card is required, as most vaccines are covered. Those without insurance may pay directly: $45 for a regular dose or $150 for a high dose. Payment may be made by check to Discount Drug Mart (include driver’s license number in the memo line) or by exact cash at the event.
