Experience the rewards of trekking through autumn
Medina County Park District invites residents to explore local parks on self-guided hikes during its 19th year.
The Medina County Park District’s self-guided hiking program, Trekking Through Autumn, returns for its 19th year, offering families and individuals a chance to enjoy crisp fall days, brilliant colors and the natural diversity of the county.
The popular program runs Sept. 1 through Nov. 30 and invites participants to complete at least eight designated hikes at their own pace and schedule. Hikers who finish the requirement earn awards, which vary depending on their level of participation.
Trekking Through Autumn features 12 parks and nature preserves across Medina County. To join, participants can pick up a Trekking Through Autumn form at Medina County Park District Headquarters, Oenslager Nature Center, or download one at www.medinacountyparks.com.
The program is free for all Medina County residents, except those living in Hinckley. Out-of-county residents and Hinckley residents may participate for $12 for a backpack and $3 for the hiking pins, payable by cash or check only. First-year hikers receive a backpack, while returning hikers earn a pin. Pins are not available for first-year participants.
