BCT ‘Unplugged’ puts spotlight on teen performers, storytelling
Buckeye Community Theatre production features stripped-down performances, original monologues and young Medina County actors
Buckeye Community Theatre will strip theater down to its essentials this month with BCT Unplugged, a performance featuring 11 teen actors from Medina County.
Designed to remove the pomp and technical polish often associated with stage productions, BCT Unplugged focuses entirely on storytelling, performance and connection. The show features three separate 10-minute musicals, cabaret-style songs by Tom Lehrer and original monologues written and performed by members of the young cast. One of the short musicals will be an Ohio premiere.
There will be no microphones, special lighting or elaborate sets – just a simple stage and the performers themselves.
Performances are scheduled for Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 10 at 2:30 and 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Medina.
Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors 65 and older and children 18 and under. More information is available at bctohio.org.
The cast includes several local performers: Kallie Reece Armbrust, Madeline Bauer, Ryan Boucher, Olivia Cambouris, Lexi Dacek, Stella Eppink, Sam Lindon, Sarah Miller, Paige Pedmo, Emma Raulie and Isaac Woofter.
The production team includes director Tyler Martin, music director Elena Hoffmann, executive producer Susan Dacek, producing artistic director Kimberly States, producers Kenzie Armbrust and Tammy States, stage manager Carter Rohr and assistant stage manager Eleanor Howell.
