The Fredericktown FFA chapter continued its momentum on March 21, sending 15 members to the Ashland Invitational to compete in the General Livestock and Wildlife Management CDEs.

The General Livestock team had a standout day, securing a top-10 finish by placing ninth out of 53 competing teams. The contest requires members to analyze livestock classes, make keep-cull decisions for breeding stock, and answer detailed questions based on their notes. Leading the way for the seven-member team was Lane Dugan in 22nd place, followed by Allissya Dugan (54th), Austin Robinson (63rd), and Ella Bouton (72nd) out of 208 participants. Carson Sanchez also represented the middle school, finishing the livestock contest in 26th place.

Fredericktown Middle School FFA finished second in the Wildlife Management division at Ashland. Kyle Russell, left, was the overall winner, and Braylen Stone finished third.

In the Wildlife Management division, the chapter's middle school students delivered a dominant performance. In this CDE, students must identify various Ohio wildlife species and handle economic scenarios regarding conservation. The Fredericktown middle school team claimed second place overall, with Kyle Russell winning the entire contest as the first place individual and Braylen Stone taking third place.

Chapter members are looking forward to seeing how each contest’s respective seasons will end and the final placings that they will receive at the State Final Events for each CDE.
