Fredericktown caps off perfect season with pair of wins
Freddies finish regular season 22-0; first time in school history

Perfection. The Fredericktown boys’ basketball team achieved it during the regular season, capped off by two wins this week to improve its record to 22-0.
The undefeated regular season is the first in school
history. Three Freddie teams had just one regular-season loss — 1930/31, 1948/49
and 1955/56.

Saturday’s win was a little tougher than they would have
liked, but the Freddies won their 21st game by beating Utica, 67-49.
The Redskins led midway through the second quarter and only
trailed by one at halftime (29-28). But, the Freddies pulled away in the second
half for the victory.
Zane Luckmeier and Blake Sipes each scored 20 points to lead
the Freddies. Luckmeier also pulled down 10 rebounds, had two assists and two
steals, while Sipes had seven rebounds, four steals and three assists. Gavin
Toombs checked in with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
There were no troubles for the Freddies in the finale
against visiting Mount Gilead on Tuesday.
The Freddies held MG scoreless for the first quarter and
rolled to a 72-35 victory over the Indians.
Danville boys’ basketball

The Danville boys’ basketball team opened tournament play in
impressive fashion on Tuesday, cruising to a 57-28 victory over visiting
Northside Christian.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 20-4 lead after one quarter
and went on to the easy victory. Danville will host the winner of Ridgedale and
Liberty Christian on Friday at 7 p.m. for a shot at advancing to district.
Aidan Mickley (10) and Parker Proper (8) combined for 18 of
the Devils’ 20 points in the first quarter. Proper added three triples in the
second as Danville took a 41-12 lead into the locker room.
Proper finished the night with a team-high 19 points.
Mickley added 16, while Ashton Spaulding had 14 and Carson Proper six.
