EK baseball squad takes three out of three

Bulldogs grab wins over RV, Crestline, Loudonville

The East Knox baseball team had a perfect week, winning all three of its games.

East Knox scored three in the sixth inning to snatch a 4-1 victory over River Valley on March 28.

The teams were tied at one through five when the Bulldogs erupted for three in the sixth. Caden Ridenour had the big hit in the inning, plating two with a single.

Jaxon Lester and Zayne Grennell both smacked two singles for the Bulldogs, while Colton Armstrong added a single.

Caleb Armstrong pitched the first four innings for EK, fanning five while allowing three hits and one walk. Colton Armstrong finished up, striking out one, walking two and giving up one hit.

The Bulldogs then took advantage of five Crestline errors to post an 11-1 victory on March 30.

Lester led the Bulldogs with a double and three RBI. Colton Armstrong and Jesse Dudgeon each added a single.

Ridenour worked the first three innings on the mound, striking out seven while not allowing a hit or walk. Garrett Wesney went the next two-thirds of an inning, fanning two, while Dudgeon finished up, striking out two.

East Knox finished off the third game with a 7-0 pounding of Loudonville on March 31.

Colton Armstrong and Caleb Armstrong each had two singles to lead the Bulldogs. Grennell added a triple, while Ridenour, Lester, Dakota Cooper, Parker Schwartz, Wesney and Gavin Kidwell all singled.

Caleb Armstrong started on the hill, striking out four and allowing one walk in two innings of work. Grennell finished up, fanning seven, while allowing three walks and two hits.

Softball

East Knox smacked eight hits, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs fell to Danville, 20-4.

Mackenzie Wilson led the Bulldogs with two doubles and a single. Paizley Lilly added a double, while Cloe Tucker, Lydia Hill, Kenlie Moore and Maddison Rambo all singled.

Rambo pitched the first 2.1 innings for EK, allowing 10 hits and six walks while striking out one. Hill finished up, allowing six hits and three walks.

The Bulldogs also dropped a doubleheader with Coshocton, 13-0 and 11-3.

Hill and Wilson each had a single for EK’s only hits in the opener.

Hill pitched all five innings, allowing 11 hits and four walks while striking out two.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs had seven hits, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Redskins.

Rambo led the Bulldogs with a double and a single, while Tucker added two singles. Wilson, Moore and Bailey Maidel all singled for EK.

Rambo started on the mound for EK, striking out four while allowing five hits and seven walks in 3.2 innings of work. Hill finished up, fanning two and walking two.

East Knox managed just one hit in falling 10-0 to host Loudonville on March 31.

Kendall Griffith got that hit, a single in the fifth inning.
