Zoar Speaker Series returns June 7 with research on Zoar Star
The Zoar Speaker Series will return Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at the Zoar United Church of Christ, also known as the Zoar Meeting House. Historian Kathy Fernandez will present new findings from her research into the history of the Zoar Star.
“As a former site director for the village, Kathleen has great knowledge about Zoar and the founding Separatists,” Site Director Tammi Shrum said. “We are very excited to hear about her latest research and findings about the iconic Zoar Star.”
Fernandez is a former director of the North Canton Heritage Society and the author of “Zoar: The Story of an Intentional Community” and “A Singular People: Images of Zoar,” the latter of which earned her the Distinguished Publication Award from the Communal Studies Association in 2004.
The event is free to attend. Following the presentation, Historic Zoar Village will be open for tours until 4 p.m.
