YMCA to open child care and preschool center in Millersburg

New facility at NewPointe Church campus will serve children from infancy through age 6 starting in March 2026

The YMCA announced the opening of a child care and preschool center in March 2026 at NewPointe Church's Millersburg campus, serving children age 6 weeks to 6 years.

The new center will provide state-licensed care including participation in Ohio Department of Job & Family Services assistance programs, ensuring access for families of all backgrounds.

Rooted in The Creative Curriculum, the Y's early learning approach emphasizes play-based, child-centered learning that nurtures curiosity, confidence and social-emotional growth.

"We are honored to bring this new program to the Millersburg community, offering high-quality early learning experiences that give every child a strong start," said Nikki Fehrenbach, CEO of YMCA of Wayne County. "This center reflects our mission to ensure all children and families have access to supportive, nurturing care."

Allie DeHass will serve as the director of the center, bringing hands-on experience in early education.

The YMCA is grateful for the support of the United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties and the Holmes County Education & Community Foundation. Without their partnership this initiative to help fill the child care gap and expand access to licensed care in Holmes County would not be possible.

Registration will open in early January, and the Y encourages families to watch for more details on how to enroll.

The Y also will hire lead and assistant teachers. Anyone interested in a career at the Y can contact Fehrenbach or DeHass.
