West Holmes girls soccer ties Tri-Valley in season opener

The West Holmes girls soccer team played Tri-Valley to a season-opening 3-3 draw in nonleague play on Aug. 16.

Charli Murphy scored three goals to lead the Lady Knights. Kylie Turpen and Bri Poventud had an assist. Landrie Croskey finished with 11 saves in goal.

Girls golf

West Holmes downed Holmes County rival Hiland 190-204 in nonleague play on Aug. 13.

Sophie Robb led the Lady Knights with a 43. Aubrey Burchfield chipped in a 45.

Boys golf

West Holmes picked up a 171-189 nonleague win over Coshocton on Aug. 14.

Logan Allison paced the Knights with a 39. Zane Kinsey added a 41.

Volleyball

Lexington rolled to a 25-13, 25-12, 25-9 win over West Holmes in OCC play on Aug. 19.

Mallory Marmet (seven kills), Lena Burgett (seven assists) and Mati Fair (five aces, five digs) led WH.

West Holmes began the season with nonleague losses to Hillsdale (25-17, 25-8, 25-13) and Triway (25-7, 25-9, 25-7).

Marmet (10 kills), Burgett (12 assists), Harper Warner (six digs) and Camrie Wilson (three aces) paced the Lady Knights.

Junior varsity girls soccer

Tri-Valley downed West Holmes 3-1 on Aug. 16.
