West Holmes girls cross country team qualifies for state meet for fifth straight year
Lady Knights place fifth at Division III regional as boys and middle school football teams close their seasons with strong performances

For the fifth consecutive season, the West Holmes girls cross country team qualified for the state meet by placing fifth out of 33 teams at the Division III Pickerington Regional on Oct. 25.
Iriel Mena led the way by placing 11th in 19:16. Katherine Kaster placed 22nd in 19:53, Alexis Wagers 38th in 20:16, Sophie Arnold 99th in 22:00 and Ellie Babitt 101st in 22:01 to round out the scoring.
Boys cross country
West Holmes competed at the Div. III Pickerington Regional on Oct. 25.
Owen Neville led the way by running 17:03 to place 47th. Owen Mallasch ran 18:15 to place 119th. Parker Garver placed 188th in 19:05, Marshall Yoder 193rd in 19:09 and Remy Beachy 230th in 19:39 to round out the scoring.
Football
West Holmes ended the regular season with a 56-48 loss to Canton South on Oct. 24.
The Knights (5-5, 3-3) failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing 16th in Div. IV, Region 15. The top 12 teams in each region qualified for the postseason.
WH quarterback Brayden Parsons completed 19-of-29 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns. Brody Bowman rushed for 162 yards and a score on 22 carries and caught a touchdown pass. Lynn Cline rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and caught five passes for 70 yards. Rhett Chaney (three catches, 51 yards) and Reix Hoxworth (2-51) both caught a touchdown pass. Coi Beachy caught seven passes for 147 yards.
Braxton Blake paced the defense with 14 tackles. Cline recorded 12 tackles, Oliver Fleming 11, Beachy nine, and Chaney and Grady Jones eight.
Eighth grade football
West Holmes ended its season with a 42-6 win over Lexington on Oct. 22.
Easton Clark threw a touchdown pass to Jacoby Rice while Cameron Badger threw a touchdown pass to Weston Rogers. Badger, Clark, Kaidence Thomas and Kiegen Aufrance each ran for a touchdown. Logan Johnson had a two-point reception. Grantham Lovell had a blocked punt and a blocked PAT.
Seventh grade football
West Holmes finished its season with a 44-0 win over Lexington on Oct. 22.
Zaylin McVay rushed for four touchdowns while Zayden Rochester and Brayden Anderson rushed for one score. Noble Mackey had two 2-point conversion runs, with Kolston Wagers and Drake Barnett each having one two-point run. Hudson Ross and James Ling each recovered a fumble for the defense.
