On Feb. 14 the West Holmes FFA competed in the State
Finals of the Agricultural Communications Contest. The team placed 16th in the
state. Individual placings were Makenzie Mast at 19th, Shane Lorentz at 25th, and Courtney Crider and Madison Ringwalt tied for 66th.
Agricultural
Communications is a four-person team that creates a proposal and media
resources for an agricultural topic. This year's scenario was to promote the
16th edition of the Ohio Agronomy Guide. Members also were asked to take a
test on general communications and complete an AP Style editing exercise.
The team attended a mock press conference and completed a practicum of either
journalistic writing, opinion writing, creating a website or creating a video,
as well as creating a media plan about the press conference. Good job
all!
