West Holmes board names new high school softball head coach
Shannon Fogle approved to lead the Knights’ softball program; board also accepts donations, honors student achievement and updates personnel.

The West Holmes Local Schools Board of Education held its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 10 at Lakeville Elementary.
During the meeting Nashville Elementary thanked Russell Cellular of Millersburg, a Verizon dealer, for a monetary donation.
The treasurer’s report included the month-end reconciliation and investments, the financial report by fund of expenditures and unencumbered balances, and the financial summary for the month ending Oct. 31.
The superintendent’s report featured committee reports, an FFA update and a presentation by Lakeville Elementary Principal Brian Zimmerly, who recognized students achieving perfect scores on state tests: Ryan Goudy (fifth grade, math), Fletcher Hawkins (fifth, science), Huxley Angle (fourth, math) and Korbin McKee (third, math). The board also discussed the 2026-27 school year calendar and received a K-5 building update.
In new business the board approved donating a five-man sled and Rogers Athletic 12 Arm Power Blaster to the athletic boosters. Members also approved resolutions declaring the impracticality of transportation for six students to attend Wooster Christian School. Each family will receive $1,100 per year in lieu of transportation.
Personnel actions included the resignations of Debra Vance (cook) and Morgan Gerber (girls tennis coach). New substitutes were approved including Nicole House (teaching), Robert Fleming (mowing), Margaret James (transportation), William Patterson (transportation), Bradley Sheely (transportation), Michelle Taylor (transportation), Lauren Goudy (teaching) and Travis Weber (transportation).
Supplemental contracts were approved for Clay Miller (middle school girls basketball assistant coach), Mary Day (middle school girls basketball volunteer coach) and Theodore Thorpe (high school girls tennis head coach). Donnie Dowling resigned as a volunteer boys basketball coach, and Shannon Fogle was approved as high school softball head coach, pending a background check.
The next board meeting will be held Dec. 15 at West Holmes High School.
