Myron Weaver, executive director of OrrVilla Retirement Community, will lead a class at OrrVilla Maple Terrace using Gerald and Marlene Kaufman’s book, “Necessary Conversations.” The five-week class will be held Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. from March 24 through April 21.
Weaver transitioned from over 20 years in the pastorate to OrrVilla 1 1/2 years ago. Much of his work is about relationships, building healthy ones that foster healthy and honest conversation. He said having those healthy conversations can be difficult, and some choose to ignore those necessary conversations, hoping time will clear things up and make feelings and experiences go away. This rarely, if ever, is the case.
In their book the Kaufmans offer examples that help the reader see the advantages of having those necessary conversations. Weaver’s hope for the class is families will learn and develop skills that allow them to have those necessary conversations prior to any crisis they may encounter. When these skills are developed and put into practice, most families bypass the anxiety that comes with these necessary conversations and they instead live life to the fullest.
If interested in being a part of the discussion, RSVP to 330-685-4455. Those who RSVP prior to March 17 will receive a personal copy of the book.
The event will take place at OrrVilla Retirement Community’s Maple Terrace assisted-living facility, 333 E. Sassafras, Orrville.
