UWWH invests over $1M in local community programs
United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties Inc. recently announced the distribution of $1,099,488 in grant awards and donor designations to numerous programs and organizations serving the residents of Holmes and Wayne counties. This investment will support initiatives focused on helping local individuals and families thrive.
Each year United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties fundraises to make dollars available to local charitable organizations working collaboratively to address the community’s most pressing needs. The recently awarded funds will bolster programs within four impact areas: health and mental health, basic needs, workforce development, and youth development.
Local nonprofit organizations have the opportunity to apply for funding through a competitive grant process. Applications are reviewed and ranked by a group of volunteer community members who then provide recommendations to the United Way Board of Directors. In addition to the competitive grants, donations designated by donors for specific organizations or programs are directly distributed, ensuring donor intent is honored.
United Way Wayne and Holmes Counties ensures all grant and designation recipients are valid charitable organizations with a local presence in Holmes or Wayne counties and are in good standing with the Ohio Attorney General and the Ohio Secretary of State.
“We are so honored to be part of a committed network of charitable organizations all working to solve issues and help people,” said Katie Koglman, CEO of United Way Wayne and Holmes. “This significant investment reflects the generosity of our community members and our commitment to supporting the vital work of local agencies that are making a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
The funding will support a range of programs including mental health counseling, removing barriers to employment, literacy initiatives, health care, protection from domestic violence, training, child care, and access to arts and culture.
