The Tuscarawas County Art Guild announced Kiersten Creighton as the recipient of its 2025 scholarship. Creighton is a senior at New Philadelphia High School and the daughter of Tim and Courtney Creighton of New Philadelphia. She received a $1,000 scholarship and plans to pursue a degree in design at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
Creighton is active in the arts community, participating in her school’s Art Club, serving as an Art Club aide, and contributing to the annual Art on the Alley event and school art shows. In addition to her artistic involvement, she has held part-time jobs at JoAnn Fabrics and Chipotle.
The scholarship was presented during a reception Tuesday, April 22 at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts. The event included the Senior High School Art Show and the presentation of awards. Jeannine Kennedy, director of the TCCA, presented the awards for the art show.
Deb Walker, president of the Tuscarawas County Art Guild, awarded the scholarship to Creighton and spoke of her achievements, saying one of her teachers described her as an outstanding student and artist, always reaching above and beyond what was expected of her.
The reception drew many attendees who came for the music, refreshments and a variety of student artwork, showcasing different styles and mediums.
